CANTON -- North Country Public Radio’s photo and story project North Country at Work is getting back on the road for the summer of 2018, and one of the first stops is in Canton.

The NC@Work crew is teaming up with the Saint Lawrence County Historical Association to hold a collection event on May 11 from 1-6 p.m. in the Red Barn on Main Street, ready to scan photos and record oral histories of work.

Project coordinator Amy Feiereisel and NCPR executive director Ellen Rocco have toured the region from Hammond to Lake Placid, Canton to Old Forge since 2016 recording and preserving the area’s collective work history, from the beginning of photography in the 1860s to the present.

“Everyone works, and everyone has a story to tell -- even if they don’t know it” says Feiereisel. “Come in and add your story -- or perhaps your family’s story -- to the North Country at Work archive.”
