GOUVERNEUR – The North Country Players organization is just beginning its 2011-2012 season with two separate performances in July.

The first performance will be by the North Country Players Orchestra, or NCPO, at the Village of Gouverneur’s Fourth of July fireworks display on July 5, at the St. Lawrence County/Gouverneur Fairgrounds.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and end prior to the fireworks.

NCPO will be performing American-made music, such as music from Harry Potter and Aaron Copland, and Americana, such as “America the Beautiful.”

This concert, titled “A Tribute to America,” is free to the public.

The second project for July is a production of the award winning musical The Music Man. It will feature a cast of over 40 and a full orchestra completely comprised of and led by community members from all over the North Country.

The Music Man will be performed at Gouverneur High School on July 28, 29 and 30.
