EDWARDS – The next concert at the Edwards Opera House will be a special concert of two-thirds of the locally famous Raquette River Rounders Saturday, July 29, at 7 p.m.

North Country natives Danny Gotham, award winning guitarist, and eclectic multi-instrumentalist John Kribs, will return to the area to present an evening of multifaceted music.

Kribs and Gotham have been playing music together since the late 1970s. The pair were two thirds of the Racquette River Rounders, and one half of the Rolling Clones.

In 1979, Gotham formed the Racquette River Rounders with John Kribs and Michael Hadfield.

In addition to being a founding member of the Racquette River Rounders, Gotham has played music with many well-known names in acoustic music, including legendary bluegrass band Summit and with folk artist and local public radio host Barbara Heller.

In 1980, he took second place at the National Fingerpicking Championship in Winfield, Kansas.

“The Rounders were hard to pigeonhole,” writes Gotham. “We did a little bit of everything -- original songs, blues, old country stuff, new-grassy sounds, swing, celtic. I simply thought of us a new kind of string band -- one that took in everything, and didn't worry about labels. We also played as an electric band with drummer Frank Carcaterra called the Rolling Clones. We did a fair amount of travelling, made two albums -- and made a lot of very dear musical friendships.”

Kribs has performed in Denmark and Norway as well as throughout the US and Canada and has served as opening act for many major artists including Arlo Guthrie, The J. Geils Band, James Cotton, Joe Cocker, Jorma Kaukonen, Robert Cray, Chubby Checker, John Hammond, Henny Youngman, Dave VonRonk, Sha Na Na, Johnny Copeland, Norman Blake, Sam Bush, The Clancy Brothers and others.
