POTSDAM -- North Country Matters will discuss education finances at Potsdam Central with Superintendent Pat Brady on WCKN at 7:30 pm March 9 and March 10.

NCM host Ann Carvill discusses a number of education funding topics with Pat Brady. These include the Governor’s reforms that he has tied to education budgeting, the difficulties in planning the 2015-16 budget with no hard numbers, and the impact of the GEA - Gap Elimination Adjustment.

They also look at how Potsdam moves forward in the post-merger vote loss last December, how the new P-Tech center might work, and the high burden of health insurance costs on districts and retirement costs. The YouTube link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOAPAvAC3hI.

The second show at 8 p.m. both nights features Gloria McAdam, the Executive Director for GardenShare.org, a locally-led nonprofit organization working to end hunger and strengthen the local food system here in the North Country in a show taped earlier in the semester.

She speaks with NCM host Donna Seymour, a member of the St. Lawrence County Branch of the American Association of University Women, about the work that GardenShare does and the way it addresses the problem of hunger in the county. The YouTube link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2ETYuC8KO0.
