POTSDAM -- North Country Matters, WCKN-TV, will air new shows featuring Helping Hands of Potsdam and the value of study abroad programs.
Aired on WCKN at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31, NCM examines the work of Helping Hands of Potsdam. Executive Director Tom Chappell talks with NCM host Donna Seymour about the history and work of the non-profit agency with host Donna Seymour.
Helping Hands is a compassionate ministry that distributes food, furniture, household items and financial assistance to families and individuals in need the eastern part of St. Lawrence County. The YouTube link for this show is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwJraxSJ01w.
The second show at 8 pm both nights features a look at Study Abroad with Sabel Bong, the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Counselor at SUNY Canton, and two SUNY Potsdam students, Isaac Griffith, a senior in Sociology and Speech Communications, and Joshua Garry, a junior in Sociology and Psychology. They discuss their recent Study Abroad trip to Cambodia with Seymour.
Seven students and two instructors spent three weeks touring Cambodian cultural and historic landmarks and visiting several social justice NGO agencies.
