CANTON -- The TAUNY Center and North Country Folkstore, 53 Main St., will offer extended hours this holiday season for visitors and shoppers looking for unique, locally-made gifts.

Special holiday hours will start Nov. 24, the Friday after Thanksgiving and end Dec. 24, Christmas Eve. Hours will be Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.

The extended hours will give people more time to look for holiday gifts at the Folkstore Holiday Showcase, a temporary expansion of the Folkstore during the holiday season that features a wide variety of additional merchandise in The TAUNY Center’s first floor gallery space.

There will also be more time for visitors to explore TAUNY’s annual Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Display, which will be on view through Dec. 23.

The North Country Folkstore will be open regular hours the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.

The TAUNY Folkstore features handmade products from more than 200 local artisans and producers from throughout the region. It provides an outlet for local traditional artists to sell their items and serves as a resource for visitors to find locally made gifts, high quality collectibles, and North Country souvenirs.

Proceeds from Folkstore sales support TAUNY’s educational programs, including performances, demonstrations, and workshops by master traditional artists.
