POTSDAM — The North Country Children's Museum will present Wind Your Way Around Your DNA Saturday, Jan. 28, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Clarkson University Bookstore.
In this action packed workshop, kids will learn about DNA and genetics.
They will extract DNA from fruit and enjoy a “DNA smoothie,” and then extract and view their own DNA using simple household supplies.
Kids will also do a DNA Dance, and create a DNA model and genetic code bracelet to take home.
The workshop will be led by Dr. Carolyn Zanta, Clarkson University, and Dr. Robert Ewy, associate professor of biology at SUNY Potsdam.
The workshop is appropriate for children in grades K-6, but parents are asked to stay and help younger children (grades K-2).
The cost of the workshop is $10 per participant.
Sign up for the whole season of children’s museum workshops is available at a 20 percent discount.
Participants can register online through clear@potsdam.edu, or by calling 267-2167.
Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.
Need-based discounts are offered.
