POTSDAM -- The North Country Children’s Museum will host “Engineer’s Lab/Construction Camp” on April 30 from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the University Bookstore, 39 Market St.
How are bridges engineered to withstand weight, while being durable, and in so many cases aesthetically pleasing.
Work in teams to design and build bridges out of popsicle sticks and glue then test them under load.
Use the fewest number of popsicle sticks while still achieving carrying the loads.
Compare the effectiveness of bridge designs to those of others and learn about effective engineering design.
Workshop taught by Clarkson engineering faculty Kerop Janoyan, Naru Nakata and Erik Backus.
Programs are geared toward K-5 students.
The cost is $10 per participant.
