CANTON -- Assemblyman Marc Butler, R-Newport, is announcing his intention to run for re-election Wednesday morning.
The announcement will take place at the Best Western University Inn, 90 E. Main St., at 8 a.m.
Butler, who lives in Herkimer County, began serving in the Assembly in 1995 after a special election. His district was at first the 113th, but redistricting placed him in the 117th District in 2003, and, after another redistricting, in 2013 placed him in the 118th, which includes the St. Lawrence County towns of Madrid, Norfolk, Stockholm, Parishville, Pierrepont, Clare, Colton, Clifton and Fine.
He was unopposed in the general election two years ago.
