NORFOLK -- The Norfolk Archers Annual 3-D Labor Day Shoot is set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5 and 6 at the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club.

Registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. each day.

On Saturday is the traditional archers’ (recurves/longbows) fun shoot with 36 lifelike targets., and a novelty gut shoot and night shoot. Cost is $10 for adults, 17 and under shoot for free.

On Sunday is the 3D trophy shoot for all styles, with 36 targets. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for youths, $3 for shooters aged 12 and under.

In addition, there will be door prizes, 50/50 raffles, and novelty shoots.

Food and drinks will be available at the clubhouse.

In memory of a well-know local archer, Bennie Darou, Herb and Bonnie Moore and family, known as the Double D Archers, spearheaded a fund drive that raised enough to purchased two complete compound bow packages, one each for a boy and girl age 12 or under.

All Cubs and PeeWees that attended any club shoots this summer were automatically entered for the bows. Last chance to enter for these bows will be Sept. 6. Drawing for the bows will be held at the end of the shoot.

Darou lost his battle with skin cancer in June.

Generous donations were raised from 3-D shooters and clubs, St. Lawrence Bowfishing, Norfolk Archers, and others.
