POTSDAM -- New York Times bestselling author Regina Calcaterra will speak on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Cheel Campus Center Barben Rooms at Clarkson University.
During her presentation, "Beginnings Do Not Define Endings," she'll speak about her memoir, "Etched in Sand: A True Story of Five Siblings Who Survived an Unspeakable Childhood on Long Island."
The event is free, open to the public and will include a book signing.
Calcaterra and her four siblings endured an abusive childhood and later faced the foster-care system and intermittent homelessness in Manhattan and the Hamptons, Clarkson said.
