MASSENA – The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will be offering free family fun during the annual Summer Spectacular on Saturday, July 21, at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center and Boat Launch.
Events run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature various activities such as energy information sessions, live musical entertainment, crafts projects for children, bounce houses, as well as an ice cream social along the banks of the St. Lawrence River.
All events are free.
This year, the North Country Children’s Museum (NCCM) will be in attendance, along with their traveling exhibit, Robot Zone. The NCCM’s “Museum Without Walls" teaches children about environmental sustainability and other scientific concepts.
Tas Cru will kick off the musical entertainment at 11 a.m. At 12:20 pm., the Dave Alderson Quartet will take the stage, followed by the Kickin Back Band at 2 p.m.
Throughout the day, NYPA will be offering information sessions on energy efficiency, with tips on how to beat high energy costs and home weatherization.
From 2 to 4 p.m., guests will be treated to free ice cream while enjoying views of the St. Lawrence- FDR Power Project.
The visitors center is currently operating on its summer schedule and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
