MASSENA -- The Eugene L. Nicandri Nature Center will be celebrating its official opening over Memorial Day weekend with a variety of free activities open to the public.
Terrific Turtles Day is slated for May 27. There will be a meet the turtles session and feeding at 10 a.m., turtle races at 1 p.m. and a turtle craft from 1-3 p.m.
Birds of Prey Day is Sunday May 28, starting at 10 a.m. with a program called “Owl Pellets.” A demonstration with live birds of prey with the Adirondack Raptors organization at 1 p.m. and a nature walk scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
On Memorial Day, a “Fishing Fun Day” will kick off with fish feeding at 10 a.m., fishing skills practice at 11 a.m., learning to fish at Barnhart Beach at 1 p.m. and fish crafts at 2:30 p.m.
