New Horizons Band of Northern New York and more slated to play throughout August

MASSENA -- The New Horizons Band of Northern New York will bring its diverse catalog of music to Springs Park on Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6-8 p.m. for the 2018 Massena free summer concert series.

The local New Horizons Band of Northern New York began September 2009 at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. A clinic for some members is held for one hour a week followed by two hours of band practice under the baton of Ronald Berry. The Swing Band meets during the clinic hour.

The band presently has 50+ members and is continuing to grow. New members are encouraged to join at the beginning of the college semesters in September and January.

Other performances are scheduled in August.

Regional favorites Six Foot Midget, playing its blend of 80s rock and roll and country are set to perform Thursday, Aug. 16, from 6-8 p.m. For more information about this band, log on to https://www.facebook.com/sixfootmidget/.

Canton-based recording artists The Waydown Wailers will play the park on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6-8 p.m. The band has two albums to its credit, and is known for its original roots rock. Learn more at https://www.waydownwailers.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/waydownwailersband/.

Local favorites Easy Street will close the series on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 6-8 p.m., performing rock and classic country standards.
