MADRID -- The St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum, 1755 State Highway 345, will open its doors to the public for an open house May 27.
Open houses will continue from May 27, every second and fourth Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., until Oct. 27.
Guided tours will be given and all buildings will be open. Visitors should register at the collection building (the red building on the left) upon entering the grounds.
In addition to more than 35,000 square feet of existing covered exhibit and activity areas, two new features have been added to the museum this year – the Equine Education Building, for horse-related events, draft horse pulls, pony pulls, and educational displays; and the Log Cabin, built originally sometime between the early and mid-1800’s.
The museum will hold its two annual exhibitions, the Annual Antique Gas and Steam Engine Exhibition, June 10 and 11, and the Old Fashioned Harvest Days Exhibition, Sept. 2 and 3.
There is no admission cost to the open houses. Groups are welcome, and special visits can be arranged by calling 315-322-8956.
Admission to the spring and fall exhibitions will be $5 for adults. There is no admission fee for children ages 12 and younger.
