POTSDAM -- Shane L. Windmeyer, one of the foremost educators on sexual orientation issues, will speak at Clarkson University from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Cheel Campus Center Cheel Barben Rooms. The public is invited to attend.
A national leader in gay and lesbian civil rights and a bestselling author, Windmeyer opens the closet door that traditionally keeps students silenced on issues surrounding sexual orientation. He combines humor and his own personal experience to destroy stereotypes that perpetuate homophobia and sheds light on an often invisible segment of the college community -- gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender students.
Windmeyer founded and serves as coordinator of CampusPride.Net -- National Online Network for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Student Leaders. He authored “The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students” and several other books, and co-edited “Inspiration for LGBT Students & Their Allies.”
