“Nanoparticles for the Treatment of Chemical Overdoses” will be discussed April 5 and 6 at the next Science Cafe meetings in Canton and Potsdam.
The cafe will be held Tuesday, April 5 at 7:15 p.m. in the Parkview Common above Blackbird Cafe, 107 Main St., Canton. The second cafe is slated for Wednesday, April 6 at 7:15 p.m. in the St. Lawrence Valley Roasters & Jernabi Coffeehouse, 11 Maple St.
Patient overdoses on therapeutics given by physicians or taken by prescription, as well as unwise use of illicit drugs, is widespread and results in many thousands of deaths each year.
Some of these problems can be successfully treated with microemulsions, or highly specialized nanoparticles.
