Musicians, art opening at Hammond gallery

HAMMOND -- Early musicians Alex and Sasha Raykov will perform at the Iva Smith Memorial Gallery of Fine Art Wednesday, June 30.

The 7 p.m. performance will follow a pot luck supper and art opening at 6 p.m.

The father-and-son duo will play Diego Ortiz recercadas on gamba and lute, and Roland di Lassus canciones on two gambas surrounded by egg tempera paintings, watercolors and drawings of the area by R. Paul Saphier. Saphier is one of eight artists included in the “Egg Tempera: Contemporary Masters” exhibition presently on display at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center.

The Iva Smith Memorial Gallery is 7.7 miles north of Knorrs in Redwood or 4.3 miles south of the Hammond flashing light at 627 NYS Hwy. 37.

A drawing for a free print by Saphier of the winner's choice will be drawn at 8:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, a friend and a dish to pass.
