RUSSELL -- The Russell Theater, 4 Pestle St., will present Alex Smith with Tom Akstens Saturday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. This is a return engagement for Alex Smith and for the first time the Russell Theater will welcome Tom Akstens, formerly of Big Trout Radio.
"Alex is a wonderful poetic writer who captures words full of meaning, matching them wit and creative music that creeps quietly into the past at the same time as dancing with the present and sneaking a peek at the future," Bob Everhart: National Traditional Country Music Association.
“Since his debut album for Takoma Records in 1976, Tom Connelly Akstens has been a highly-regarded songwriter, guitarist and interpreter of American Roots Music. The Burlington Free press has praised his "impeccable musicianship" and Sarah Craig of Caffe Lena has called him a "master of his craft".
The performance is part of the Russell Theater 2015 season.
Admission is a donation to support the artists and help with restoration of the hall.
Light refreshments will be served and there will be a 50/50 raffle.
