PARISHVILLE -- Musicality 2014 will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Parishville firemen’s field, 25 Rutman Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. featuring live music, contests, lessons, kids activities and food.
The program is a fundraising event organized by 15-year-old Amanda Mason to benefit the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School music program. This will be the third year for the event and in 2012 and 2013 the concert made over $3,000 in cash and musical instrument repair kits for the school.
Mason says she really enjoys all types of music.
“Music is the most important thing in my life. Budget cuts are scary, I don’t know what we would do without our music programs,” Mason says.
This year Mason attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane summer youth camp and says she came away invigorated and motivated to share her love of music with her community.
“This event is my service to my school and community to keep the music in our school system with as much funding as possible so the students can have a quality educational experience.”
Activities planned include a musical talent contest, bake sale, face painting, fun photo area, coloring area, musical instrument petting zoo, silent auction, music lessons, novelties, 50/50 raffle, karaoke, Rosies Hawg Dogs, St. Lawrence Valley Roasters coffee and musical performances.
Musical acts expected to perform include Jack Kelleys Little Big Band, Adirondack Folk Singer, Roy Hurd, Kathy McKay, Nick Rycroft, Lori White and Lori Knowles, SUNY Potsdam Crane Students, and Amanda Mason.
Mason is looking for people to perform for the talent contest, judges, as well as volunteers to help run the booths, set up and clean up, bake goodies for the bake sale, offer music lessons, karaoke performers and musical entertainers for the day.
Those interested in donating gift baskets, raffle items, or money can contact Amanda at 265-8775 or ajm8775@gmail.com or mail at 31 Woodruff Road, Colton, NY 13625.
