Board-certified music therapist Tracy Wanamaker teaches music and art exploration workshops for community members with special needs. Classes meet in Gouverneur, Massena, and Potsdam. Students may register for as many or as few classes in the series as they are available to attend.
Classes meet at:
• Gouverneur Recreation Center, 3 Trinity Ave, on Thursdays from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on March 20, April 17, and May 15.
• Massena Community Center, 61 Beach Street, on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on March 11, April 8, and May 6.
• SLC Arts, room 229, 41 Elm St in Potsdam, on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-noon for ages 21 and up and 3:30-5:00 p.m. for ages 11-20 on March 11, 25, April 8, 22, May 6 and 20.
The 2014 Special Arts program is supported in part by grant funding from the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and NYS Council on the Arts--Special Arts Services. Special Arts classes are open to all teens and adults with special needs.
Price per class is $10; scholarships are available based on financial need. The sliding payment scale may be viewed on the SLC Arts website.
