Music fundraiser Sunday at Jernabi for Potsdam Ives Park concert series this fall

POTSDAM -- Organizers of the First Annual Ives Park Concert Series will hold a benefit concert Sunday, Feb. 14, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Jernabi Coffeehouse, 11 Maple St.

Money raised will go toward the late summer concert series. The benefit concert will include performances by some of the groups that will be performing during the concert series as well as other local musicians, all of whom are donating their time for the cause. They will also run a silent art auction with works by local fine artists as well as a prize raffle of donations from local businesses.

Musical performances by Crescent Street Band,The McKennas, KTX, Alan Darrah, Caramelo Trio, Mark Lyon and Camilla Ammirati, Laurel Kuxhaus and Sandy Steinberg, and Wells and the Gathering. Poetry readings by Donald McNutt and Oscar Sarmiento. Prize raffle includes gifts from Brick and Mortar Music, Potsdam Food Co-op, Orchestra of Northern New York, Community Performance Series, Village Diner, Musical Way Academy, Clarkson Hockey, Taglio Hair Salon, Trillium Yoga Center, and more. Art provided by local artists including Catherine LaPointe-Vollmer, Chris Jay, Dean Thornton, Eleanor Hawley, James Gonzalez, Ryan Meashaw, Ola Aldous, Kira LaRose, Sara Lynch and more.

Tickets for the benefit concert are $5, and can be purchased at Brick and Mortar Music on Market Street in Potsdam or Jernabi Coffeehouse ahead of the event or at the door. Tickets will include two raffle tickets, but additional raffle tickets will be sold at the event.

Plans for the first ever Ives Park Concert Series in Potsdam starting late summer 2016 are underway. The series is organized by Maggie McKenna along with her husband, Matt McKenna, and friend, Marcus Alvarez, with graphic designer Catherine LaPointe-Vollmer.
