MASSENA – A free “Love Massena” event will take place July 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at Alcoa Park.
It includes food, puppet shows, live music, DJ music, sports lessons, art mural, balloon creations, face painting, and clowns.
According to one of the organizers, Don Curry, lead pastor of New Testament Church in Massena, the event and the site have been chosen to counteract some of the criminal behavior that has taken place in the neighborhood recently.
“We chose Alcoa Park because of so much violence near there,” Curry said.
He said it is sponsored by Compassion North, a non-profit organization set up by New Testament Church in 2005.
