OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club’s international expo starts today and runs through March 24 with a health fair, recitals, merchant displays and a chance to win a garden plot.

The expo will be held at the Newell Golden Dome, State Street.

The expo will run from 3 to 9 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 23 and noon to 4:30 p.m. March 24.

A health fair, dance recitals, merchant displays and exhibitions, a craft show, entertainment and concessions will be featured.

The St. Lawrence County Clerk’s office will host a booth at expo to process passport applications, pistol permit applications, amendments or updates and take photos.

Pistol permit and veteran ID cards will be printed Friday from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

A veteran ID discount card can be obtained if a DD-214 has already been filed or if you bring your original DD-214 to be filed. Once it has been filed it will be mailed back to you.

Opt-out forms will be available for pistol permit holders who do not wish to have their information made public through a FOIL request.

You can win a free garden plot from the Ogdensburg Community Garden Group at Fort laPresentation by registering at the Chamber of Commerce booth.

The Ogdensburg Rotary Club has donated an 8’x12’ garden shed to store all garden equipment.

The garden group was given a grant by the St. Lawrence Health Initiative. The grant provided start up funds to build the 26 raised beds and premium top soil to fill them. The grant also purchased tools such as rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, hoses, rain barrels for a and water catchment system. A compost area and a picnic area will also be featured.

The group will provide the tools and a plot for residents to grow a variety of vegetables or fruits.

The regular cost of a garden plot will be $25 and you will be required to sign a “Plot Holders Agreement.”

You will be expected to provide the seeds or plants, do the planting, weeding, watering and harvesting.

Admission to the expo will be $4. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club.
