Multiple activities for kids and adults available at Potsdam library

POTSDAM – Computer lab and tech help, storytime, ESL classes, chess club, game night, knitting, and book clubs are all offered at the Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park Street.

The weekly or monthly events include:

• Open Computer Lab: Mondays & Fridays, 2 - 3 p.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5 – 6 p.m.; Drop in for individual tech help. Volunteers are also available by appointment for computer and job search help; for more info email tech@potsdamlibrary.org

• Drop-in Board Game Night: Drop-in for part or all of board game nights; Thursdays 5-8 p.m. For more info email info@potsdamlibrary.org or call 315-265-7230.

• Drop-in Chess Club: Drop-in for part or all of these casual chess meets. All experience levels welcome; Wednesdays 5-7:45 p.m. For more info email info@potsdamlibrary.org or call 315-265-7230.

• ESL (English as a Second Language) class with Maria Morrison Mondays 4-7 p.m. in Village Community Room. Learn English using contextual examples. You'll learn and practice reading, speaking and writing English while also learning about general education topics. For more info email mmorrison@potsdamlibrary.org

• Curious Cubs Preschool Storytime: Stories, rhymes and playtime for preschoolers and toddlers; Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the storytime room on the mezzanine level of the library with facilitator Rebecca Donnelly.

• Purl Jam Knitting Group: Share your passion for knitting while learning how to use online resources to enhance your work. No registration required; 3rd Monday each month 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; Cleveland computer ctr. with Sarah Sachs; pack a bag lunch if you wish; for more info: email ssachs@potsdamlibrary.org or call 315-265-7230.

• After Work Book Club: New book club for all ages starting Jan 22 that meets 4th Tuesday of month at 6:30-7:30 p.m.in the main reading room of library; discuss the month's book with facilitator Mary Michalek; bring your book, any notes, and your favorite mug and tea for the discussion. Ask about availability of books at circulation desk. January: Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng; February: Beloved by Toni Morrison; March: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr; April: Pachinko by Min Jin Lee; May: Becoming by Michelle Obama; June: Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah; July: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. • Noon Book Club: Meets second Wednesday each month 12-2 p.m. in Community Room; discuss the month's book with facilitator Sandra McCloy; ask about availability of books at circulation desk.
