Morley Summer Festival Friday and Saturday features music, games, family fun

MORLEY -- The Morley Summer Festival will take place this year Aug. 22-23 and will include live music, games and food.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening at the Fire Department Rec Hall with an ice cream social and music by the Charlton Brothers band. At the same time youngsters will be entertained with stories and a movie at the library at the “Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover.”

On Saturday events begin with a pancake breakfast offered by the Morley Wesleyan Church at the Morley Activity Building. At noon, the fire department have planned a take-out chicken barbecue for festival-goers.

Throughout the day, activities for children and adults will take place at several venues including games, face painting, treats from Mr. Ding-A-Ling’s truck, an appearance by members of this years Dairy Princess’ Court, a movie at the Library and a performance by the Noteworthy Handbell Choir are only a portion of many activities planned.

An open house and Morley history and photo displays at the Library and Grist Mill and tours of the historic Trinity Chapel and Morley Cemetery will be conducted throughout the day.

The celebration is presented by the Morley Library Association, Inc., Morley Wesleyan Church, the Morley Volunteer Fire Department and the Morley Grist Mill Association.
