Morley Community Summer Festival Friday and Saturday

MORLEY -- The Morley Community Summer Festival will be held Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8.

An ice cream social will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the fire department’s recreational hall with hamburgers, hotdogs and French fires.

The Bentgrass Revue, featuring Rick Williams, Chris Strebendt, Mark Lyon and Mark Sherry, will play from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday

The Morley Library will host the “Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover” beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Kids can listen to stories and then tuck a favorite stuffed animal, action figure or doll in for the night.

The festival will pick back up Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast at the Morley Wesleyan Church fellowship hall at 8 a.m.

Saturday activities will include a Breezy Maple Farms petting zoo and pony rides, face painting and children’s games.

The Sheriff’s Department will do fingerprinting for children and a boater safety course will be offered at the Morley Wesleyan Church.

Cindy’s Twirlers will hold a demonstration and Alice Poole, licensed massage therapist, will offer massages.

Open houses will be held at the Morley Wesleyan Church, the Morley Heritage Grist Mill and the Morley Library, where photos and memorabilia of early Morley will on display.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, French fries and beverages will be provided by the fire department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the recreation hall, with music provided by DJ Karaoke Bill Longshore.

A number of vendors, including woodworkers, artisans and crafters, will set up in the church’s fellowship hall as well. Vendors will include Gary Chudzinski’s fungal art; Robert Demers, Glen Besaw, Steven Brooks and Dick Fisher with handcrafted wooden items; Shirley Martin’s art; Sandee Mayville, Valerie Wilson and Jenny Fisher with craft items; Lori Cross with body wraps and lotions; Helen Congdon with jams, jellies and food items; and Mark Gonyou with tools and other goods.

Health screenings and information about local organizations will also be offered.

Parking will be available at the Morley Wesleyan Church parking lot.
