More than 20 teams, 120 people signed up for Polar Plunge in Massena on Saturday

MASSENA -- Nearly 20 teams and more than 120 people from all over St. Lawrence County are already signed up for the third annual St. Lawrence Seaway Polar Plunge.

Last year, more than $20,000 was raised at this event, and with a significant increase in participants organizers are hoping to surpass last year’s total.

If you can’t take the cold, you can join the Chicken Coop, with a fund-raising minimum of $50. Chickens receive preferred Plunge viewing, wings courtesy of PrimaBellas, and lots of fun and entertainment, Chickens can register online at www.tinyurl.com/StLawPlunge2011. .

The Plunge happens at Hawkins Point Visitors Center, 20 Hawkins Point Rd., Massena, Saturday, Nov. 5. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the Plunge is at noon.

There will be live radio remote broadcasts, coffee and donuts, and raffles.
