COLTON – Colton’s Christmas on Main Street is a new series of events that will be taking place throughout the Christmas season in the hamlet of Colton. All are welcomed to participate and attend any or all of the festivities.
It will be kicked off Saturday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. with the lighting of the gazebo and the downtown area. There will be music and refreshments.
• Julies Junque 2 Jems is now offering craft and traditional art classed throughout the Christmas Season. Craft classes are on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. and traditional arts classes are held Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. The material fee for each class is only $5. If interested in using your talents to make some gifts call Linda Dunning at 212-7228.
• St. Patrick’s Catholic Church will be setting up their Mitten, Hat and Sock Tree in the entrance of the church on Sunday, Nov. 27. Items can be dropped of anytime until Christmas.
• The Finishline Lounge has begun a Christmas Fund Raising Drive for families in Colton and South Colton. There are a number of raffle opportunities that will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. A custom Dick Bailey print has been donated by Bob and Tammy Bradish and the framing donated by the Frame Mill in Potsdam. Value of the picture is $500 and tickets can be bought for $5 at the Finishline. There is also a Lottery Tree with $50 worth of lottery tickets on it and tickets are $2. • Colton-Pierrepont Central School will be hosting their annual Christmas Concerts. Elementary School will be held Wednesday Dec. 7, 7 p.m., and the Secondary School will be performing Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
• Ziplid Studio and Lodging will be sponsoring a Cookie Exchange at the Ziplid Lodge Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9:30 p.m. The object is to join together as a community, meet new people and share in the art of baking to acquire a large supply of cookies to be able to give to those that may need to feel loved, comforted, or in need of a visit at a lonely time of year. • St. Patrick’s Altar Rosary Society will be sponsoring their Annual Christmas Party Thursday, Dec. 15. Cocktails will be served at 5:30 with dinner following at 6:30 p.m. They will also be packing Christmas for the sick and shut in on Friday, Dec. 16, at 9 a.m. in the Parish Center. Baked good can be accepted. Call Karen Murray for more information at 265-6705.
• Zion Episcopal Church is finishing out its Coffee House Series with Lonel Woods, a Christmas Concert, Friday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. A goodwill offering is being taken for the Colton Food Pantry.
• The Finishline Lounge will be having their Christmas Party for distribution to Families Saturday, Dec. 17 between noon-2. There are all kinds of opportunities to help out with shopping, gift wrapping and donations. Contact Tammy at 212-0279
Finally, there will be a Community Christmas Party at the Finishline Lounge Saturday, Dec. 17, 5 p.m.-close. There will be entertainment, music, and food. Come join in the fun with locals and if you so choose it is “Formal if you Dare.”
