CANTON -- The 2nd Annual Mom Prom fundraiser will be held on Friday, June 15, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn. Tickets for this women-only event cost $15 and are available at The Blackbird Café, 107 Main Street in Canton.

Not just for moms, this event encourages women of all ages to put on retro prom dresses, wedding gowns, long-forgotten bridesmaid frocks or formal gowns, whether found in the back of a closet or at a rummage sale, for an evening of dancing, door prizes and raffles for a good cause.

Raffle tickets will be available for theme baskets, such as Chocolate Lovers and Crafting, and for the opportunity to be crowned the 2012 Mom Prom Queen. There will be a cash bar and music.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Women Of Grace Widows' Fund, a joint mission project of the Canton and Watertown Presbyterian Churches dedicated to alleviating poverty and providing opportunities for widows in Malawi, Africa.
