AKWESASNE – The season long battle for the Mohawk International Raceway Championship will come down to the final week this coming Thursday Night as champions will be crowned in all weekly divisions, as well as the Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” Modified Series and the Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman Series.

Pit gates will open at 3:30 p.m., with general admission gates opening at 4 p.m. Pit admission is $32 with DIRTcar license and $35 without. General admission is $18 for adults, $16 for students and seniors with children 12 and under admitted for just $8.

The closest battle comes in the 358 Modified division with five drivers entering the night with a shot at taking home the championship. A mere 27 points separate the top five, and only 15 points between the top three.

Chris Raabe will enter the night as the point leader by two points over Billy Dunn, while Carey Terrance, Danny O’Brien and Matt Billings all having a shot at the season long championship.

The Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” 358 Modified Championship will also come down to the wire with Billy Dunn and Matt Billings tied for the point lead, with Chris Raabe just six points back. Dale Planck and Brian McDonald are also within striking distance.

The Sportsman championship has been decided already with Dylan Evoy carrying an insurmountable lead going into the final night with an incredible 170 point lead as he claims his second straight championship.

The battle for second place will come right down to the last lap with the next five drivers all separated by just 15 points. Josh VanBrocklin currently holds second position but will be chased by Dana Aikins, Jessica Power, Mike Arquiette and Brent Kelsey. They will also decide their Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman Series championship, with Dylan Evoy once again at the top of the standings by 18 points over Brandon Hagan.

Mike Arquiette, Dana Aikins and Jessica Power round out the top five and are in a position to take the title should Evoy or Hagan have any issues.

PJ Peters has the Pro Stock championship all but locked up, but the battle amongst the top five is still up for grabs. Dion Oakes and Stephane Lebrun are separated by just seven points with Marc Lalonde, Roch Aubin and Jody Swamp all within reach of finishing the season amongst the top five.

Mathieu Aubin’s recent winning streak has earned him the 2012 Bandit track championship at Mohawk International Raceway by nearly 100 points over second place Stuart Mossow going into the final point night.

Mossow has a good lead in second place with the battle on through the rest of the top five between Cory Castell, Matt Zira and Darryl Mitchell. Just three points separate Castell and Zira, with Mitchell comfortably in fifth place.

The battle for the Mod Lite championship will also come down to Thursday’s final point showdown as Bryan Green holds a slim 22 point advantage over last year’s champion Mathieu Robinson.

Scott Waldriff, Sylvain Laframboise and Tim Reif have virtually secured their position amongst the top five in the 1000cc division. Dan Reif has locked up the 600cc Mod Lite championship.
