AKWESASNE – With the 2012 racing season just over a month away, the events scheduled for this season at Mohawk International Raceway will provide an action-packed summer for local motor racing enthusiasts.

The 2012 season begins with the annual test and tuner session from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, as the track hosts an open practice session for all divisions, to test their new setups before the season opener Friday, May 11. Grandstand admission to the tuner session is free.

The first race of the season on May 11 features a 40-lap, $2,000 to win event for the 358 Modified Division, plus a full program of Sportsman, Pro Stock, Bandit and Mod Lite contests. Weekly racing will continue each Friday night in May, and will be highlighted by the first of three Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” 358 Modified Series events on Friday, May 25.

There will be plenty of big events in June, including the first of two 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar Series races Thursday, June 21 with the opening round of the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series/Mohawk Race Parts Pro Stock Series. The Empire Super Sprints and Go Nuclear Late Model Challenge Series will take the spotlight on Friday, June 8 along with the opening round of the CKON 97.3 FM TUSA Mod Lite Series. The Frenchie’s Ford “Drive One” Sportsman Series will also debut in June with the first of three series races scheduled for Friday, June 15.

July starts a bang on July 6 with a huge fireworks display and the annual Independence Day weekend and the second round of Frenchie’s Chevrolet - Chevy Runs Deep - 358 Modified MIR series 50-lap race. And there is the second running of the ESS (Empire Super Sprints). On July 13th is the Frenchie’s “Drive One” Sportsman series then on July 20th is the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock series. And finally on July 27 is the all new St. Lawrence Seaway Sportsman championship series. Finishing with the second round of the CKON 97.3 FM TUSA Mod lite series.

As the summer heats up in August, the championship battle will begin to take shape in all weekly divisions as well as the MIR series championship race. The Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series will wrap up on Friday, August 17th, the CKON 97.3 FM TUSA Mod Lites Series will also race their third of four races on Friday, August 24th. The Frenchie’s “Chevy Runs Deep” 358 Modified Series and Frenchie’s Ford “Drive One” Sportsman Series will come to an end on Thursday, August 30th for a special Labor Day Weekend event that will crown will also crown a champion in all classes.

On September 14th and 15th is an action pack event for the DIRTcar’s major touring division. On Friday September 14th the DIRTcar 358 Modified and the Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stocks will take center stage along with races for open Bandits, Mod Lites and GO Nuclear late models. On Saturday September 15th is the Big Block Super DIRTcar series 100 lap feature along with the DIRTcar Sportsman, Go Nuclear Late Models and the MIR series finale for the CKON 97.3 TUSA Mod Lite series.

The season will conclude with the traditional 100 Lap Ironman Slick Enduro on Sunday, Sept 23rd.

Mohawk International Raceway is located in Akwesasne, NY, midway between the Seaway International Bridge to Cornwall, ONT and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.
