CANTON -- A Mohawk basket-making workshop for children, taught by Carrie Hill, is slated for Saturday, April 29, from 1-3 p.m. at the TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
Hill will teach traditional skills to make a small woven splint animal or bookmark that children can take home.
The Akwesasne basketmaker learned the art from her aunt. Her family has been weaving black ash splints and sweetgrass for generations.
