POTSDAM -- The Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live performance transmission to movie theaters continues with its fourth summer season of The Met: Live in HD.
It will feature six of the Met's most popular operas in startling high definition. Through Mondays at the Met, North Country audiences can enjoy encore screenings at Potsdam's Roxy Theatre in July and August. All broadcasts are offered on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Shows include: Gaetano Donizetti's "Anna Bolena”: July 2 (3 hours, 10 minutes); Gioachino Rossini's "Le Comte Ory": July 9 (2 hours, 25 minutes); Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Don Giovanni": July 16 (4 hours) ;Jacques Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffman": July 23 (3 hours); Gaetano Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor": July 30 (2 hours, 25 minutes); Richard Strauss's "Der Rosenkavalier": Aug. 6 (3 hours, 20 minutes).
Shortened intermission features will allow for the enjoyment of younger audiences as well as busy schedules, and English subtitles bring the stories to life. All are welcome to experience the depth and raw energy of world-class opera without going all the way to New York City. Cost is $13 for adults, $11 for senior citizens, $9 for students and $7 for youths aged 18 and under. For tickets call 267-2277.
