The Met: Live in HD kick off Oct. 5 with Tchaikovsky's 'Eugene Onegin' at Potsdam Roxy

POTSDAM -- The 2013-14 season of The Met: Live in HD will kick off Oct. 5 with Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin.”

The series features classic to contemporary Metropolitan Opera productions at the Roxy Theater. English subtitles will be included.

The season opens Oct. 5 with Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin" starring Anna Netrebko, Mariusz Kwiecien and Piotr Beczala.

Two SUNY Potsdam's alumnae will take the Met stage in starring roles in the series this year. Soprano Renée Fleming will appear as the title character in Dvořák's "Rusalka," Feb. 8. Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe will sing the role of Mistress Quickly in Verdi's "Falstaff" Dec. 14.

The season schedule follows:

• Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin": Live on Oct. 5 at 12:55 p.m., encore on Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

• Shostakovich's "The Nose": Live on Oct. 26 at 12:55 p.m., encore on Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

• Puccini's "Tosca": Live on Nov. 9 at 12:55 p.m., encore on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

• Verdi's "Falstaff": Live on Dec. 14 at 12:55 p.m., encore on Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

• Dvořák's "Rusalka": Live on Feb. 8 at 12:55 p.m., encore on March 2 at 6:30 p.m.

• Borodin's "Prince Igor": Live on March 1 at noon, encore on March 9 at 6 p.m.

• Massenet's "Werther": Live on March 15 at 12:55 p.m., encore on April 6 at 6:30 p.m.

• Puccini's "La Bohème": Live on April 5 at 12:55 p.m., encore on April 13 at 6:30 p.m.

• Mozart's "Così fan Tutte": Live on April 26 at 12:55 p.m., encore on May 4 at 6:30 p.m.

• Rossini's "La Cenerentola": Live on May 10 at 12:55 p.m., encore on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets will be $18 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $12 for students and $9 for youth age 18 and under.
