Medical marijuana company coming to Potsdam to explain qualifying conditions and registration process

POTSDAM -- Curaleaf, a medical marijuana distributor, will offer a free seminar explaining New York’s medical marijuana program May 2 at noon in the Potsdam Civic Center Community Room, 38 Main St.

Craig Brozek, a Curaleaf pharmacist, will be on hand to explain the medical marijuana registration process and explain qualifying conditions.

Curaleaf operates a medical marijuana dispensary in Plattsburgh, which serves St. Lawrence County.

Qualifying conditions for a prescription include cancer, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with objective neurological indication of intractable spasticity, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, neuropathies and Huntington’s disease.

More recently, chronic pain and post traumatic stress syndrome have been approved as qualifying conditions by Health Commissioner Dr. Howard A. Zucker.
