MASSENA -- The New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center and boat launch is extending its summer hours.

Starting May 24, the admission-free visitors center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.

It features exhibits on electricity, energy, the environment and area history. It also includes a bicycle generator that turns pedal power into electricity and a Van de Graaff generator.

An audio-visual terrain map charts the course of the St. Lawrence River from Ogdensburg to Massena. There is also a community room available for public use.
