MASSENA -- The 13th annual Massena Recreation Commission Ted Kot Youth Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, May 19.
This year's derby will be held at the New York Power Authority’s Hawkins Point Visitor's Center at Robert Moses State Park. Kids ages 4 to 15 years can participate.
Check-in and registration is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. To qualify for prizes, entrants must be registered.
Fishing is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Awards will be made beginning at 1:15 p.m., to the first, second and third heaviest live in-season fish for ages 4 to 9 and 10 to 15.
Participants will be entered into a drawing for door prizes throughout the day.
Participants must bring their own fishing rod and worms. Worms are only bait allowed. Fishing will be from the shoreline only.
Those who are pre-registered are guaranteed a goody bag.
A free hot dog and drink go to all youth participants.
The derby will be held rain or shine.
Call the Massena Recreation office at 769-3161 with the name and age of the children you want to register.
