MASSENA -- The Friends of the Nature Center at Moses State Park host a moonlight-guided “ski-n-snowshoe” hike at the Nature Center trails from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29.
The hike is for all ages and abilities, although beginner or first-time skiers are encouraged to snowshoe. Skiers and snowshoe participants are put into different groups and led along different trails, meeting up after at the campfire. Those with very young children are asked to bring a backpack to carry the child in or a sled to pull them on.
The trails are on gentle, rolling terrain and approximately 1.6 miles long. Some skiers may choose to ski another trail or two.
Cross-country ski sets and lightweight snowshoes are available to rent for $4 per pair. Participants are asked to register in advance and renters should arrive half an hour early to get equipment.
Activities are weather dependent, so call for conditions if in doubt.
Meet at the trail head sign, 19 Robinson Bay Road.
