MASSENA – Massena Memorial Hospital will host attorney Efstathia G. Kyriakopoulos for a seminar and lunch on powers of attorney and health care proxies Tuesday, April 15 at 11:30 a.m. in the board room.
The seminar is part of the state bar association’s 2013 Mitchell Rabbino National Healthcare Decision Making Day.
Kyriakopoulos of Snider and Snider Law Firm will discuss the difference between a power of attorney and a health care proxy, the benefits of appointing each and how to choose an agent.
He will also explain how to complete the necessary forms.
A health care proxy and a durable power of attorney can avoid costly and time-consuming court proceedings to set up a guardianship, according to Kyriakopoulos. Both allow individuals to choose who will make their financial and health care decisions for them.
To register contact the hospital’s public relations department at 769-4262.
