MASSENA -- The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce will host the 34th annual Heritage Festival Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival’s theme will be “Festival of Family Fun.” Highlights will include the chamber’s food booth, a petting zoo and live entertainment.

The day will start with a parade at 9 a.m., which will run from Main Street to Bowers Street, ending at the Massena Arena, according to Michael Gleason, executive director at the chamber.

The parade usually averages 25 to 35 participants, according to Gleason. This year the chamber anticipates upwards of 60 vendors will set up in the arena.

A bounce house will be set up out back for kids and a coloring contest will be offered. “Years ago we used to do a carnival, but the company sold the equipment and we had to go this route,” Gleason said.

Kids can pick up the coloring page at the chamber’s information booth or ahead of time at the chamber office, Community Bank, Cornell’s Dry Cleaning, Dr. Zysik’s Office, First Niagara, Key Bank, Massena Public Library, Massena Savings & Loan, Massena Nature Center, NBT, North Country Savings Bank, SeaComm Federal Credit Union and Twin Rivers Federal Credit Union. The page should be returned to the chamber booth before 2:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.

Massena Nursery School will host kid’s games and the Massena Mason’s will offer a Child Safety Id.

A Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle will also be held.

Other highlights will include live entertainment, a petting zoo and pony rides.

The entertainment will include:

• Trinity Catholic Band at 9:45 a.m.

• Massena All School Band at 10:15 a.m.

• The Massena School Drama Club with songs from their ‘Back to the 80’s show at 11 a.m.

• Tap-to-Toe Studio of Dance at noon

• Zen-Do-Kai Karate School at 1 p.m.

• A magic show by Cubby T Clown at 2 p.m.

• A kid’s craft with the Robert Moses State Park Nature Center at 3 p.m.

In addition to the vendors, the chamber will offer the traditional food booth.

The festival serves as a major fundraiser for the chamber each year, Gleason said.

“We still have room for more entries in this year’s parade,” he said. The deadline for parade entries is May 27.

Entry forms are available on the chamber website at www.massenachamber.com or at the office, 16 Church St.
