MASSENA -- The Massena Fire Department for the second year will host their Massena International Airport Open House Car and Vendor Show. Admission to the event and all demonstrations is free.
It will be Aug. 25 at Massena International Airport, 90 Aviation Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain date will be Aug. 26.
Tom Miller, a fire department member who also sits on the Town Council, said there will be old cars, vendors, military displays, ferrier and pointer dog demonstrations, live music and food.
There is no charge to enter a car in the show, and the first 300 get a dash plaque to commemorate the show.
There were 156 automotive entries last year “and we’re hoping for more,” Miller said.
“New this year, we’ve invited antique tractor groups,” Miller said. “We requested the military displays again, static displays.”
He said the military last year landed a Blackhawk helicopter that people could check out.
“When it left, it put on a hell of a show,” Miller said.
Tyler Hapeman will have a ferrier come in and do an 11 a.m. horseshoeing display, Miller said. That will be followed by Bill Orlando, who some may recognize from his chiropractor practice, giving a show with his award-winning pointer dogs. He will be on a horse and show how he uses the dogs to flush trained pigeons from a nearby field.
“They’ll actually be stationed there and the dog will go and point them out,” Miller said.
B&D Enterntainment will bring their “three most popular bounce houses,” Miller said, and Massena Police Ptl. Brandon Huckle will give a demonstration with his K9 unit, Joker.
Local band 10 Cent Green will play live music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Massena Volunteer Fire Dept. will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, non-alcoholic drinks and beer.
Anyone who wants more information can call Miller at 315-250-4168.
