Thursday, June 3, 2010 - 11:53 am

MASSENA – In partnership with the Massena Village Police Department, the Massena Masonic Lodge will be holding free Child Safety ID events June 4 and 5 in Louisville and Massena.

On Friday, the free service will be offered at the Louisville Arena during the Relay for Life American Cancer Society Walk from 6 p.m. until dark, and on Saturday, at the Massena Arena during the Heritage Festival, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Walk-ins are welcome. Parents will complete a short questionnaire and sign a permission slip; they will receive a CD-ROM of information, including fingerprints and photos of their child, a laminated ID card, and a printout. All information is given to the parents; only permission slips are retained.

The New York Masonic Safety Identification Program addresses the alarming fact that many children, students, and adults are reported missing in the U.S. each year. All families are urged to keep this important, updateable information in a safe place, and take it with them when traveling with children. This information can aid in the safe recovery of a lost or missing child.
