MADRID – The Madrid-Waddington Class of 2012 will be the seventh class to celebrate Baccalaureate since the ecumenical service was reinstituted in 2006. The celebration will take place 7 p.m. Monday, June 18 at the United Church in Madrid.

The event is sponsored by the Madrid-Waddington Clergy Association to send graduates off into the world with God’s blessings. As prayer is not allowed in schools, this is an opportunity for the churches to publicly pray for the students. Rev. Dennis Lowe will address the class and Madrid-Waddington Superintendent Lynn Roy will offer introductory remarks.

The evening will also include a special parent appreciation ceremony during which students thank their parents for their support for the last 13 years.

Members of the clergy association include Noel Allen of the Scotch Presbyterian Church, Helen Beck of the United Church of Madrid, Art Garno of St. Paul’s Episcopal, Robert Lawler of St. Mary’s in Waddington and St. John the Baptist in Madrid, Dennis Lowe of Buck’s Bridge, Rick Sinclair of Christian Fellowship Center and Russell Strait of the Presbyterian Church in Waddington.

For more information, contact Allen at 323-2430 or nyallen@twcny.rr.com.
