POTSDAM – The Look Good...Feel Better program will meet Thursday, Jan. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Classroom at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
The program, which meets every third Thursday of the month, is a community-based, free, national service. It teaches female cancer patients beauty tips to look better and feel good about how they look during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
Group programs consist of a 90 minute, hands-on workshop with a Look Good...Feel Better volunteer beauty professional which includes a 12-step skin care/make-up application lesson, demonstration of options for dealing with hair loss, including wigs, scarves and accessories, and nail care techniques.
Attendees also use and take home complimentary cosmetic kits in their appropriate skin tones with a helpful instruction booklet.
The group program is open to all women living with cancer who are undergoing radiation, chemotherapy or other forms of treatments.
In the United States alone, 650,000 women have participated in the program.
Reservations are recommended. To reserve a space or for more information, contact Jackie Dow, Director of Oncology Services at 261-5935 or jdow@cphospital.org.
