Local photographer to hold open house, display Civil War reenactment photos from Gettysburg

POTSDAM – Local photographer Dennis Barr will have a showing and open house from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Creative Spirit Gallery of his photographic work and restoration.

Barr attended the 150th Civil War reenactment at Gettysburg this year, participated as a Confederate soldier, disguised his camera with a black box and cloth, period camera, and has over 5,000 photos of the event.

Barr also worked with Canton's historian, Linda A. Casserly, in digitalizing and restoring over 150 glass plate negatives from 1890 to 1930 taken by Canton photographer Benjamin Kip.

Barr helps to run Two Guys and a Camera Photography.
