CANTON -- Local musician and radio talent Barb Heller will teach a three-lesson basic guitar course developed to jump start guitar novices and as well as experienced players who are a bit rusty.
The classes are Tuesdays July 21, July 28, and Aug. 4 from noon to 1 p.m. at TAUNY, 53 Main St. Students will learn basic chords and strums, and music theory.
"Learning guitar is a great way to start playing along with the musical traditions of the North Country," said Camilla Ammirati, TAUNY's director of research and programming, "and we are delighted to host Barb's express guitar class here at The TAUNY Center."
Express Guitar School is a preamble to Barb's three-lesson jam school which follows in August. Jam school will help students navigate music reading and group playing and will prepare students for the monthly TAUNY jams which return in September.
Students need their own guitar and tuner; all other materials will be provided. The cost is $45 or $40 for TAUNY Friends. Register: TAUNY at 386-4289 or programs@tauny.org. More information is available at tauny.org.
