CANTON -- The Local Living Venture will sponsors a series of home tours in St. Lawrence county.
The tours are a way for the public to view "green homes" and learn more about how to create small scale energy systems, build a rocket stove to heat a home or cook meals, utilize grid-tied energy with solar panels, and many other ways to live economically and ecologically with "home power."
The tour is part of a larger tour of homes in the northeast, headed by the NorthEast Sustainable Energy Assn. (NESEA) and a national tour on the same day, organized by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES)
St. Lawrence Valley regional tour co-organizer Melinda Ely is looking for a few good homes to add to the tour roster.
The tour will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 and can be hosted on an "Open House" basis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or with set hours within that time frame.
There is no fee to participate. For more information, or to get on the mailing list for future event notices, write to SustLivingProject@gmail.com or call 347-4223.
