CANTON -- Local farmer David Rice will offer tips for caring for fruit trees on March 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at a local orchard.

The "Pruning Your Apple Trees and Other Orchard Fruits" class will cover choosing and caring for pruning tools, as well as pruning lingo and ways to improve orchard quality and fruit health.

Rice will focus on a "central leader style" and will also briefly cover special care for pruning neglected trees and training your apple trees.

The workshop will involve some hands-on pruning activity.

Rice has a degree in horticulture with a focus on fruit science and has been farming for 30 years.
