MASSENA – “Fight For the Mind 3” will see live professional wrestling return to the North Country to help raise money for the Alzheimer's Association of the Northeast.

Skull Wrestling presents: Upstate Pro Wrestling's “Fight For the Mind 3” on Sept. 30 at the St. Lawrence Centre mall. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the chance to meet wrestlers, get autographs and buy merchandise with a 7 p.m. bell time.

Shaun Balaban, a 2001 graduate from Massena, organized the show. His mother passed away a few years ago from dementia and Balaban wanted to put a show on in her memory.

“Even if you aren’t a fan you should come out to the show to help raise money – raising money for Alzheimer’s is what it’s about and wrestling is just making it happen,” he said.[img_assist|nid=217600|title=|desc=Trevor Kemison holds the Adirondack Pro Wrestling Federation worlds heavyweight championship during a visit from at the Massena Boys and Girls Club from professional wrestler Payne.|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=263]

A portion of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association of the Northeast. The first Fight for the Mind event raised $1,300.

The first show was sold out with over 800 people turning out, so Balaban decided to book a larger venue for this show. The venue at the mall holds about 1,800 people.

“It’s good family entertainment and a huge benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association,” Balaban said.

Former WWE, ECW and TNA wrestler Tommy Dreamer returns and will headline the show, along with appearances by former TNA stars Cody Deaner and Jesse Neal. Each wrestler will be available for photographs and autographs prior to the show.

The main event will likely see Dreamer take on Payne, a Massena native as well.

“Payne has challenged Dreamer in online videos but Dreamer has yet to respond – which hasn't made Payne very happy,” event organizer Justin Berry said. “Payne said he will drag Dreamer to the ring for a match if he has to.”

Balaban, who wrestles under the name Shooter Storm, is set to make his return to the ring following a lengthy hiatus due to injury. He will take on Magnum Mike Maniacal in a street-fight.

“Falls count anywhere – I plan to fight all over that building,” Balaban said.

Other announced matches include: Cici Galavis versus Eve “the Black Widow”; The Barbarians (Myzery and Damien) versus Cody Deaner and Ryan Rogan; Jay Freddie versus “Irish Underdog” Ryan Donovan; “Firework” Foxx Vinyer versus Ray Steele, a tag team championship match with the defending champions Hellcat and Mattick. Jesse Neal with his valet Scarlett Mandy will also see action inside the squared circle.

Massena native “Boxcar” Bryan Hebert is expected to wrestle for the first time in his hometown in about 15 years.

Jesse Neal and Mandy Scarlett will sign autographs at 4 p.m. near the front entrance of the mall.

Row one is sold out and a limited amount of row two and three are still available.

“Front row sold out before we even announced Tommy Dreamer … they were gone in a week,” event organizer Justin Berry said. “People are still coming up to me requesting front row.”

A limited amount of tickets for rows four through six are still available and cost $15 each.

Bleacher seats are $10.

“The bleacher capacity is 1,200 people, so there will be plenty of space,” Berry said. “Tickets will be sold at the door too.”

Tickets are on sale at the service desk in the mall, by contact Stephanie Gebo on Facebook or by phone at (518)-353-4216.

Berry said if people cannot make it out to the mall that they can pay through PayPal and have their tickets mailed to them (if purchased by Sept. 25) or they can hold them at the door. Berry encouraged anyone who purchased online to print out their PayPal receipt of conversation they had with him on Facebook in case there are any issues.
